Leonteio Lykeio is run by a group of monk educators, namely the Marist Brothers (freres Maristes), and belongs to the Catholic Church.
It is a non-profit, co-educational institution (private school) operating since 1924 and comprising a Primary, a Junior High and a Senior High Schools. Students are taught two foreign languages: French, with a reinforced tuition programme and English, which follows the Greek Ministry of Education requirements.
Leonteio Lykeio has a long-held tradition of schooling and educating children in Greece. Thousands of our graduates have excelled in various areas of human endeavour here and abroad. To meet present demand for tuition reinforcement and personality development through educational activities, Leonteio Lykeio Patission launched new afternoon courses, taught at the school premises as of October 2000 ; indeed, TOPS (Courses of Integrated Educational Support) aim at Junior and Senior High Schools students, while the Pedagogical Workshop caters for Primary School pupils.
The school premises are vast and particularly functional, covering the needs of a modern institution, in an area of five acres. There are:
- Spacious classrooms for general education subjects.
- 6 amphitheatres functioning as chemistry/physics laboratories, fully equipped with the necessary instruments for tuition and experiments.
- Separate classrooms for special subjects (computer science, drawing, foreign languages, music etc), properly equipped (computers, videos, TV sets, screens, overhead projectors etc).
- An extensive lending library, covering a whole floor, run by an experienced librarian.
- Two specially built auditoriums (one brand new and with up-to-date technology), with a seating capacity of 600 people, fully equipped with electronic, audio and visual devices.
- Teaching staff rooms.
- Rooms especially designed for interviews and parent-teacher meetings.
- An indoor gym fully equipped for games as well as spacious roof-covered areas for physical education. Moreover, a special playground has been built for the needs of our Primary School pupils.
- A fully equipped infirmary run by a doctor and a registered nurse.
All Leonteio Lykeio students are obligatorily insured by the school with an extended-time program which covers all mishaps one hour before the beginning of lessons until one hour after the end of classes, each school day.
