Leonteio School is a lifework, founded on stable Christian values and on the pedagogical principles, as experienced by the generations of Marist Brothers from the time when Order was first established in the early 19th century. Inspired by the charisma and the steady spiritual beliefs of its establisher, Saint Marcellin Champagnat, the Marist Fraternity’s main concern is to serve the youth’s education in order to help them become integrated Christians, moral people and responsible citizens.

More specifically, the goals that our school tries to reach in order to achieve spiritual and moral cultivation are as follows:

• Forming young people who, after having realized the human imperfection and their purpose on earth, will seek Jesus Christ’s message of salvation.
• Encouraging students by cultivating the respect for the Greek traditional elements,
adopting general humanitarian ideals, concentrating on peaceful co-existence and developing social solidarity sense and offer.
• Exploiting the students’ mental skills, their personal talents and cultivating their critical thought and the responsible attitude towards everyday problems.
• Implanting sound principles in the minds of children, and also the respect for the constitutions, the state laws and the unwritten laws of social co-existence.
• Making students overcome their individual needs and the spirit of competitiveness and reinforce their interest in other people and especially those who live in poverty, loneliness and social isolation, through the gospel truth.

The achievement of these aims and the success of the spiritual, moral and pedagogical work presuppose the existence of the following factors and means:

• The school’s operation as a lively community, where children, teenagers and adults, through a family spirit of mutual appreciation, respect each other and trust, live and cooperate in harmony.
• The creation of a welcoming spirit and grounds for communication, which encourage everyone’s participation.
• The application of a clear pedagogical scheme, which corresponds to current demands and is constantly readjusted according to young people’s needs and expectations.

In Leonteio School, we are aware of the fact that educating young people is hard, as difficulties and opposite forces are powerful, and that it is difficult to achieve perfection, since young people’s potentials are unlimited. However, we aim at its best possible success being firm in our beliefs and constantly cooperating with the other members of our pedagogical community.
